i had rhumatic fever when i was 13 yrs old left me with a prolapesed aortic valve only found out when i was 35yrs old had a heart attack at 57 yrs old walk in smoked very heavily had valve replacment-double bypass-add aortic root replacement by a mr kidir brilliant man in 2010 stopped smokeing and feel on top of the world i would say the advantages far out wheigh the risks and was completly painless.i am 63 yrs old

Thanks for your input. My cardiologist just gave me chantix to try to stop smoking. He said with my high blood pressure and irregular heart rhythms, I am a walking time bomb for a major cardiac event!
So after 30+ yrs of smoking.. I am going to give it a try...I haven't had a heart attack and really don't want one!
Glad you are feeling well now. Hope I feel good soon too.
